Access has been recognised as Nigeria’s largest employer of CFA candidates, with a new ranking by CFA Society Nigeria highlighting the financial group’s growing investment in professional development and the next generation of finance leaders.
The ranking, published under CFA Society Nigeria’s Where Nigeria’s Finance Professionals Work series, showed that Access employs 82 CFA candidates, more than twice the number recorded by the next-ranked institution.
The Group also ranked second among employers of CFA charterholders, placing it among the leading organisations in Nigeria in terms of its concentration of professionals pursuing or holding the globally recognised investment management qualification.
The recognition comes at a time when financial institutions across Africa are placing greater emphasis on technical expertise, ethical leadership and professional certification as they compete in increasingly complex financial markets.
For Access, the ranking represents more than a workforce statistic. It highlights the Group’s efforts to develop professionals with the skills needed to navigate investment management, financial analysis, portfolio management, risk and other areas critical to the future of the financial services industry.
The CFA Charter is widely regarded as one of the most rigorous professional qualifications in investment management, with its curriculum covering areas including ethics, financial analysis, portfolio management and professional standards.
CFA Society Nigeria said the rankings were compiled using data from its Salesforce Membership Database as of June 2026.
Building Africa’s Next Generation of Finance Professionals
Access’ position at the top of the ranking reflects its broader focus on developing talent across its expanding financial services operations.
The Group operates banking, pensions, payments, insurance brokerage and consumer lending businesses across 25 countries in Africa, Europe and Asia, with professional development forming part of its wider strategy for sustainable growth.
As financial markets become more interconnected and technology continues to reshape the industry, financial institutions increasingly require professionals who can combine technical knowledge with strong ethical and leadership standards.
Access’ large pipeline of CFA candidates therefore provides an indication of the importance the Group places on continuous learning and globally recognised professional qualifications.
Industry observers have increasingly identified talent development as a key differentiator for financial institutions seeking to compete beyond their domestic markets. A strong pool of professionally trained employees can strengthen an institution’s capacity to manage risk, develop products, serve customers and respond to changes in global financial markets.
The development of finance professionals also has implications beyond individual institutions, particularly in emerging markets where stronger professional standards can contribute to the development of deeper and more credible financial systems.
Access Links Talent Development to Long-Term Growth
The recognition aligns with Access Holdings’ stated ambition to become the world’s most respected African financial services group.
While the Group has continued to expand its geographical footprint and business interests, the latest recognition puts attention on another aspect of its growth strategy — the people behind the institution.
Having 82 CFA candidates within its workforce suggests a significant pipeline of professionals pursuing advanced knowledge in investment management and related areas.
The Group said its investment in structured learning, professional certification and leadership development is designed to create sustainable value across its businesses.
Commenting on the recognition, Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Innocent C. Ike, described the ranking as evidence of a culture built around continuous learning and professional excellence.
“We are proud that so many of our people are pursuing one of the most demanding professional qualifications in global finance, and that they are choosing to do it here, at Access.”
Ike said the ranking reflected a deliberate culture in which rigour, integrity and continuous learning form part of the organisation’s everyday operations.
“Every candidate on that list represents our commitment to building institutions and professionals that endure,” he added.
Raising the Standard for Financial Talent
CFA Society Nigeria, which is part of the global CFA Institute network, said the rankings recognise organisations that invest in professionals who bring rigour, integrity and global best practices into the workplace.
For Nigeria’s financial services industry, Access’ position in the ranking highlights the growing importance of developing professionals who can meet international standards while contributing to the growth of the domestic and African financial markets.
The Group’s ranking as the country’s largest employer of CFA candidates also provides another measure of its approach to talent development, alongside its broader expansion across multiple financial services segments.
As Africa’s financial sector continues to evolve, institutions capable of combining scale with professional expertise are likely to play an increasingly important role in shaping the continent’s financial future.
For Access, the CFA Society Nigeria recognition places its talent strategy firmly in that conversation, signalling an effort to build not only a larger financial institution, but also a deeper pipeline of professionals equipped to lead it.
