The city of Welland, Ontario, is set to come alive with the sights, sounds and flavours of Africa and the Caribbean as preparations reach top gear for the 4th Edition of the Welland Afro-Caribbean Festival (WACF), scheduled to hold from August 8 to 9, 2026.
The two-day cultural festival will take place at Merritt Park, Welland, Ontario, with activities running daily from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., offering residents and visitors an opportunity to experience the rich heritage, creativity and diversity of Afro-Caribbean cultures.
With free admission, organisers expect thousands of attendees from across Canada and beyond to participate in what has become one of Ontario's fastest-growing multicultural festivals.
This year's edition promises an exciting blend of Afrobeats, reggae, soca and Caribbean music performances, alongside colourful cultural displays, traditional and contemporary dance performances, fashion exhibitions, authentic African and Caribbean cuisine, arts and crafts, business exhibitions and family-friendly activities.
Held under the theme "Infusing Culture and Community Through Music, Dance, Food and Fashion," the festival is designed to celebrate cultural diversity while strengthening community bonds through entertainment, education and cultural exchange.
Over the years, the Welland Afro-Caribbean Festival has evolved into a major platform that showcases African and Caribbean heritage while creating opportunities for artists, entrepreneurs, small businesses, community organisations and cultural groups to connect with wider audiences.
Organisers say the festival continues to promote inclusion, multiculturalism and economic empowerment by providing exhibitors and vendors with opportunities to showcase their products and services while celebrating the unique traditions that unite African and Caribbean communities.
