The cleric also used the occasion to establish a non-profit organization, Malomo Fabunmi Foundation, to care for the welfare of less privileged and as a way to immortalize the memories of his deceased mother.
Pastor Fabunmi, while addressing the beneficiaries via video call from his residence in the United States of America, said it is important to assist the aged persons, saying they are the memories of the society. He also stated that Malomo Fabunmi Foundation was established to care for the welfare of the less privileged.
"Aged persons are part of the times and memories of every society and one of the best ways to preserve those memories is to care for their well-being. Though, they are wearing in strength but possess every experience the home and society need to grow. This is why they are the first beneficiary of the Malomo Fabunmi Foundation.
"My mother loved to care for people, especially the aged even before she got to that stage and eventually passed on to the glory of God. So, it is my joy to celebrate her two years of remembrance by replicating one of her many good practices when she was here" Fabunmi said.
The coordinator of the scheme, Abayomi Adebayo, while disturbing the cash present said "the true spirit of remembrance and celebration is in giving, and especially to the less privileged. This is why Pastor Sola Fabunmi, last year gave to the kids at Ondo State Orphanage home, Akure, to celebrate his birthday even while in the faraway United States. This year, he decided to honor her late mother by empowering aged men and women, and equally inaugurated a foundation in that regard.
"It is also interesting to note that this program is carried out without preference for religious, ethnic and political lines. These senior citizens will be registered on the database of Malomo Fabunmi Foundation and we plan to check on them periodically." Adebayo said.
Speaking earlier in the program, the family representative and eldest daughter of the deceased, an aged Mrs. Ebun Aina (Nee Fabunmi), advised the aged men and women to be deliberate about their health, urging them to desist from self-treatment."I enjoin you to take good care of your health at this stage. Be deliberate about what you eat and drink. Take proper rest and don't indulge in self-treatment instead, go to government-approved clinics and allow trained medical personnel to treat you." Mrs. Aina said.
Pastor Fabunmi is the President, Miracle Valley Ministries, Convener, Prayer Army WorldWide, and Senior Pastor, City of Faith, RCCG, Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. He is also a Life Coach and Spiritual Counselor.
