All road leads to Handef Event Center on Sunday 20th February 2022 as families, friends and political associates gathered as Princess Dee Production premiered her latest movie "Kenumapami". The Yoruba movie is one of the most anticipated movies in 2022, written and produced by popular Nigeria Actress Princess Dupe. She was also honored with Good Charater award by the Ondo State Professional Artistes of Nigeria.
The event was chaired by Ondo South senatorial leading Aspirants, Hon. Mathew Oyemade aka MATO was represented by Hon. Ralph Akinrolabu in his address, congratulated the actress cum politician for her contribution to the movie industry and pledged to always support the industry.
While giving her welcome address, Princess as fondly called returned all the glory and adoration to God Almighty for his abundant mercy and over the gift of life. She used the opportunity to thank His Excellency, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN) for allowing her to serve as a council member of the prestigious Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, she said, “she will forever be indebted to you him"
In her word, the Nigeria film industry popularly tagged "Nollywood" began some decade ago with historical filmmakers like Ola Balogun, Hubert Ogunde, Moses Olaiya, Jimi Solanke, Tunde Kelani, Tade Ogidan, Jimoh Aliu and so many others who have made contributions and left a legacy for generation after them to be proud of.
Nigeria's film industry remains the largest film producer in the world aside from the traditional and conventional rules of entertaining, educating, and informing its numerous audience, the industry has significantly contributed to showcasing and promoting our arts and cultural heritage, as they also provided a means of livelihood for people, especially the youths and positively affected the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As the sector has been a key player in the country's economic recovery and sustainable growth and development.
"Permit me to refresh our memories that our dear sunshine state is blessed with abundant human resources who have made headways and made the state proud with their contribution in the entertainment and film industry. Omotola Jelade- Ekiende, King Sunny Ade, Yemi Alade, Ayo Makun (AYComedy), Jibola Dabo Salome Eketunde, Funsho Adeolu, Tomogun Olubunmi, Chief (Mrs.) Toyin Adegbola (asewo universe), Muyiwa Olawolu, Fadekemi Ologbese, Tope Faturoti (Ogidan), Bimbo Oshin, Demola Suzi, and a host of others.
She cut her teeth into acting through a celluloid film, songbird produced by Uncle Jimi Solanke in 1983, where she played the major role (Tamwa). She was Tinu (Jimmy's mother) in the mirror in the sun in 1984 and she was also a guest on Village Headmaster, Ripples, country people, and zenith on AIT. She also took part in Papa Ajasco / Super Stories TV series by Wale Adenuga.
Princess who had been acting for almost 4 decades was honored by Ondo State Professional Artistes in Nigeria with an award of special recognition on Good Character. She had featured in numerous movies and also produced well over 10 movies.
She appeals to state government, government functionaries, and well-meaning individuals to help promote Ondo state indigenous artiste through their patronage, especially during campaign electioneering periods and being branded as faces of government projects. She said, "There are so many raw talents here who are struggling to be discovered and exposed to the outside world".
"Ogun state did it by promoting and supporting their own, the likes of Bolaji Amusan (Baba Latin), Odunlade Adekola, Lateef Adedimeji, and others "let us have easy access to loans at the microcredit agency. I believe Ondo State can do better. This will in no small measure help to take the jobless youths off the street and increase the state IGR when producers and other Nollywood stakeholders are attracted to the state.
"Kenumapami is a movie written about each person's morals, believing in oneself, and not losing hope, it will also help to bring back our lost cultural values. It also teaches people patience and how to be mindful of the kind of promises we make to people".
