Truecaller has officially stepped beyond its core caller ID and spam-blocking services with the launch of a new travel eSIM product, marking a significant expansion into the global mobile data and connectivity market.
The rollout spans 29 countries, including Nigeria, the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, and several markets across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
The new travel eSIM allows users to activate mobile data plans digitally within minutes, removing the need for physical SIM cards or expensive roaming packages. Available plans reportedly range from: 1GB for 7 days and up to 20GB for 30 days
The service targets international travelers, digital nomads, and business users who require quick and affordable internet access across borders.
According to the company, the eSIM can be purchased online and activated instantly, making it usable before or during travel, depending on device compatibility.
The launch signals a strategic pivot for Truecaller into digital consumable services, expanding its ecosystem beyond identity verification and spam protection.
Truecaller stated that its platform already serves more than 500 million users globally, and the new service is designed to address long-standing challenges such as roaming costs and inconsistent mobile connectivity while traveling.
Truecaller Chief Operating Officer Fredrik Kjell described the move as the company’s entry into adjacent communication services, leveraging its global user base and brand trust.
He noted that the company aims to offer “a great product at a competitive price,” positioning the eSIM service as a natural extension of its communication-focused ecosystem.
At launch, the travel eSIM service is available through the Truecaller iPhone app and web platform, with broader rollout plans expected to include Android users and additional regional markets.
The web-based access also ensures compatibility across supported devices, allowing users to manage and activate data plans without physical SIM cards.
Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Truecaller is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm and reports over 1 billion app downloads globally. The platform processes billions of spam and fraud call identifications annually, making it one of the most widely used communication apps in the world.
With this new launch, the company is positioning itself to compete in the fast-growing global eSIM and travel connectivity market, where demand is rising due to increased international mobility and remote work trends.
The inclusion of Nigeria in the rollout highlights growing demand in African markets for affordable international data solutions, particularly among travelers, freelancers, and business professionals who frequently move across borders.
