RITE FOODS RENEWS RITE-ON-THE-BEACH PARTNERSHIP WITH POP BEACH CLUB TO STRENGTHEN PLASTIC RECOVERY AND COASTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN LAGOS

Rite Foods Limited, one of Nigeria’s leading food and beverage companies, has renewed its strategic Rite-On-The-Beach partnership with POP Beach Club, Lagos, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability, community development, youth empowerment, and educational support.

The renewed collaboration builds on the success of the Rite-On-The-Beach initiative, a points-based, community-driven plastic recovery programme designed to combat plastic pollution while delivering measurable social impact to underserved coastal communities across Lagos State.

Since its inception, the initiative has combined periodic beach clean-ups, environmental education, advocacy, and community engagement to promote responsible waste disposal and reduce marine pollution. The partnership renewal aims to scale these efforts and deepen community participation in sustainable waste management practices.

Speaking on the renewed partnership, Mr. Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, said the programme reflects the company’s holistic sustainability vision.

“At Rite Foods, sustainability goes beyond environmental responsibility; it is about creating shared value for people, communities, and future generations. Renewing our partnership with POP Beach Club allows us to integrate environmental action with education, youth empowerment, and community development in a practical and measurable way,” he said.

The initiative aligns strongly with Rite Foods Limited’s EYEC Sustainability Pillars, particularly through its innovative model of exchanging recovered plastic waste for school supplies, directly supporting education and learning continuity for children within participating communities.

As part of the partnership, young people will continue to be engaged as environmental advocates, participating in structured beach clean-ups and plastic recovery activities that promote leadership, responsibility, and sustainability awareness. The programme contributes to cleaner beaches, reduced marine pollution, and healthier coastal ecosystems.

Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Akin Disu, Convener and CEO of POP Beach Club, described the partnership as a powerful model for community-led environmental action.

“Our partnership with Rite Foods has shown that environmental action can be impactful, visible, and community-driven. We are committed to deepening the impact and using our platform to drive meaningful social change,” he said.

Since its launch in 2020, the Rite-On-The-Beach initiative has helped reshape waste disposal habits and promote long-term community-led environmental stewardship. The programme actively engages undergraduates through awareness campaigns, residency programmes, and volunteering activities, creating a pipeline of informed young advocates for responsible waste management.

In 2025, the Plastic Free July campaign delivered under the initiative recorded the recovery of over 40 tonnes of plastic waste in Lagos within one month, translating awareness into concrete environmental action.

Collectively, the Rite-On-The-Beach programme demonstrates how purpose-driven partnerships can move plastic pollution management beyond isolated clean-ups and position sustainability as a shared responsibility among communities, corporate organisations, and stakeholders.

Rite Foods Limited remains committed to delivering high-quality, innovative products while advancing sustainable development through responsible business practices and community-focused initiatives. POP Beach Club continues to serve as a lifestyle and community platform dedicated to environmental responsibility, sustainability awareness, and social impact through creative engagement.
