Wema Bank, Nigeria’s leading innovative financial institution and pioneer of Africa’s first fully digital bank, ALAT, has unveiled the Top 20 finalists for Hackaholics 6.0 following a rigorous two-day pre-pitch event held on December 16 and 17, 2025.
The Top 20 finalists comprise 10 teams from the Hackathon stream and 10 teams from the Ideathon stream, reflecting Wema Bank’s dual-track approach to fostering innovation by supporting both new solution builders and refiners of existing ideas.
The Hackathon finalists are: Rapid DEV, Secure IT, Neurafeed, Trust Lock Babcock, Pulse Track, IlluminiTrust, Trust Lock FUTA, Fix Fraud AI, KASH Flow, and VOC AI.
The Ideathon finalists include: PLOY, Fertitude, VarsityScape, Mama ALERT, StockMed, Chao, All Arbitrate, FarmSlate, Sane AI, and Cycle X.
Speaking on the evolution of Hackaholics, Moruf Oseni, Managing Director/CEO of Wema Bank, explained the rationale behind the two-stream structure.
“Hackaholics started off as a hackathon and later morphed into ideation. For Hackaholics 6.0, we decided to give both the builders of new solutions and the refiners of existing ones an opportunity to make meaningful impact. Innovation is not always about starting from scratch; sometimes, it is about optimising what already exists,” Oseni said.
Highlighting the scale of participation, Oseni noted that Hackaholics 6.0 toured seven cities, engaged 1,460 participants, and uncovered hundreds of innovative ideas.
“Some ideas needed refining, others deserved to move forward. We shortlisted the Top 43 teams for the pre-pitch, and from there, the Top 20 emerged. To every participant, Wema Bank is proud of you. This is just the beginning,” he added.
The pre-pitch stage featured intense presentations and problem-solving sessions, with teams competing for a spot in the grand finale. After a rigorous evaluation process, the Top 20 secured their place in the final stage of the competition.
The Hackaholics 6.0 Grand Finale, scheduled for December 19, 2025, will bring together key stakeholders in Africa’s tech and innovation ecosystem. The event will offer finalists increased visibility, networking opportunities, and access to potential investors beyond the cash prizes.
For the Ideathon stream, prizes include: ₦25 million for the winner, ₦20 million for the first runner-up, ₦15 million for the second runner-up and ₦5 million each for two women-led teams.
In the Hackathon category, prizes are: ₦20 million for first place, ₦15 million for second place, ₦10 million for third place and ₦5 million for fourth place.
The grand finale will be streamed live on Wema Bank’s official YouTube channel (@Wema Bank). Viewers are also encouraged to join the conversation across social media using #Hackaholics6.
