OGUN PLANS ₦1BN AI-POWERED DIGITAL CLASSROOM AT REMO SECONDARY SCHOOL TO BOOST TECH EDUCATION

The Ogun State Government has unveiled plans to build a 900-capacity Artificial Intelligence-driven digital learning complex at Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, as part of efforts to strengthen technology-based education and prepare students for the digital economy.

Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed the initiative during activities marking the school’s 80th anniversary, describing the proposed facility as a strategic investment in modern educational infrastructure designed to equip students with future-ready skills.

According to the governor, the AI-enabled digital classroom will complement existing smart-education facilities within the school, including a functional resource centre and a state-of-the-art robotics laboratory, which were established to foster innovation, problem-solving, and digital literacy among students.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the institution, Abiodun pledged ₦100 million in financial support, announcing that ₦50 million would be released immediately to kick-start development efforts. He also assured stakeholders that at least one of the proposed projects would be completed before the end of his tenure.

The governor further revealed that the state government had recently upgraded the school’s science laboratories with modern equipment and teaching tools to enhance practical learning and safety standards.

He added that renovation works had been completed on both male and female hostels to improve accommodation, security, and the overall welfare of boarding students.

Describing Remo Secondary School as a symbol of heritage and academic excellence, Abiodun said the 80th anniversary celebration highlighted the institution’s long-standing role in producing leaders and professionals across various sectors.

He commended members of the Old Students’ Association for their continued support and contributions, noting that their involvement reflects a shared commitment to sustaining the school’s legacy of excellence.

Abiodun emphasised that the ongoing projects and improvements underscore the state government’s belief in education as a critical driver of development and the importance of collaboration among government, alumni, and the community.

He also disclosed that Remo Secondary School had been designated as one of Ogun State’s model schools and urged students to remain focused on their studies, uphold strong moral values, and continue the tradition of excellence for which the institution is renowned.
