TRAGEDY STRIKES AS EKITI YOUTH PARLIAMENT DEPUTY SPEAKER, OLUWADAMILOLA AGBAJE, DIES SUDDENLY


The Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti Youth Parliament, Oluwadamilola Fatimah Agbaje, has reportedly passed away, sending shockwaves across youth advocacy and legal communities in Nigeria.

The heartbreaking news was announced by her brother on his X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday. According to him, Damilola died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

“We received the heartbreaking news that my sister, @deelish, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, 11th June 2025. She was truly a star—full of joy, warmth, and light,” he wrote. “More than a sister, she was like a daughter, given the significant age gap. We had so many hopes and dreams for the future together. While we are devastated, we take comfort in knowing that she is in a better place.”

BRIEF ABOUT HER

Oluwadamilola Fatimah Agbaje was a brilliant and multi-talented young leader. She graduated as the best student of the Faculty of Law at Elizade University (Class of 2018/2023). Known for her eloquence and intellect, she was a British Parliamentary debater, writer, and public speaking coach.

She founded the Consciousness Movement, an initiative aimed at building young Nigerians’ capacity in critical thinking, public speaking, and civic engagement. Damilola was widely regarded as a voice of reason and hope among her peers and colleagues in youth development circles.

Her appointment as Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti Youth Parliament was a testament to her passion for social impact and her rising influence in leadership and advocacy.
