Access Bank PLC successfully hosted the French Week 2024 Business Forum at its headquarters in Lagos, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening trade relations between Nigeria and France. The event marked the beginning of the annual French Week celebrations, highlighting Access Bank’s dedication to fostering bilateral business collaborations and creating opportunities for growth, trust, and innovation in the France-Nigeria economic space.
The Forum attracted notable dignitaries, including the Ambassador of France to Nigeria, the Consul General of France in Lagos, the President of the Franco-Nigeria Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment in Lagos, and the Technical Adviser to the President on Foreign Direct Investment. These leaders conveyed the federal government’s full support for advancing cross-border partnerships between Nigeria and France, while applauding Access Bank’s leadership in organizing such impactful events.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Laurent Favier, the Consul General of France, acknowledged Access Bank’s expanding presence in France and its pivotal role in facilitating trade between the two nations. He commended the bank for strengthening economic relations by establishing a robust footprint in Paris and launching a dedicated French Desk in Nigeria to streamline business transactions.
Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings PLC and President of the France-Nigeria Business Council, emphasized the council's role in supporting policies that foster a more enabling business environment for both countries. “The France-Nigeria Business Council seeks to play a vital role in supporting our governments, businesses, and citizens to create a secure and flourishing environment for cross-border trade,” he stated.
During the first panel discussion, Roosevelt Ogbonna, CEO of Access Bank Nigeria, highlighted the bank’s commitment to enhancing Africa’s presence in global markets. “Access Bank is dedicated to providing Africa with a voice on the international stage, enabling local businesses to scale by offering better access to information, credit, and capital. Our presence in Paris not only strengthens Nigeria’s global influence but also facilitates investments that align with the ongoing economic transformation in Africa,” he said.
In his closing remarks, HE Marc Fonbaustier, the Ambassador of France, emphasized the importance of the forum in advancing Nigeria-France trade and investments. “Events like this offer a unique opportunity to deepen our bilateral economic relationship, strengthen existing trade and investment channels, and cultivate new partnerships,” he stated.
With the successful launch of the French Week 2024 Business Forum, Access Bank reaffirms its commitment to positioning Nigeria as a key player in the global business arena, promoting sustainable partnerships and shared economic growth for both nations.
