CAPACIOUS FARMS AND ADRON HOMES CELEBRATE WORLD FOOD DAY WITH JSS ARTS & ESSAY CONTEST, AWARD TOP 5 SCHOOLS
Capacious Farms & Foods Ltd, in collaboration with Adron Homes & Properties, celebrated World Food Day by hosting the 2024 Junior Secondary School (JSS) Arts & Essay Contest Award Ceremony. The event, held at Adron Training School in Simawa, aimed to inspire young minds in agriculture, creative arts, and essay writing, while raising awareness about food security and sustainability.The competition attracted entries from 40 schools across Nigeria, with students focusing on the future of agriculture and its crucial role in addressing food insecurity. After a thorough evaluation, five schools were declared winners, with students receiving cash prizes, courtesy of Adron Homes & Properties, a leading real estate firm in Nigeria.
Chi Tola Roberts, Chief Operating Officer of Capacious Farms & Foods, highlighted the significance of the initiative during her address: "Celebrating World Food Day through this contest emphasizes the pivotal role agriculture plays in our society. We aim to ignite a passion for agriculture early on and equip students with the knowledge to pursue meaningful careers in the sector." Roberts also announced plans to make the contest an annual event, with expanded outreach and opportunities for more students.
Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, Chairman of Adron Group, spoke about Nigeria's rich agricultural history and the need to rekindle interest in the sector. "Nigeria was built on agriculture. Iconic structures like Cocoa House were funded through proceeds from farming. By supporting programs like this, we hope to inspire the next generation to view agriculture not just as our past, but as our future," he said, reaffirming Adron’s dedication to youth engagement in agriculture through sponsorships and support.
Prof. Adesegun, Chairman of Babcock University Schools Management Board, delivered the keynote address, focusing on the global food crisis and the critical role of youth in addressing this challenge. "We are facing a global food security crisis, and it is vital that young people lead the charge in finding solutions. This contest encourages students to think deeply about the future of food and agriculture," he remarked.
The event served as a platform for students to showcase their artistic and literary talents, exploring themes aligned with World Food Day’s mission of ending hunger and achieving food security for all. The top five schools were awarded cash prizes, with their students recognized for their outstanding creative and analytical skills.
