RITE FOODS NAMED AMONG NIGERIA’S TOP 50 COMPANIES OF IMPACT FOR 2026

Rite Foods Limited has been recognised among Nigeria’s Top 50 Companies of Impact for 2026, earning another industry accolade for its growing influence on the country’s food, beverage and fast-moving consumer goods sector.

The indigenous food and beverage company was honoured at the 2026 Industry Newspaper Awards, where organisations making measurable contributions to Nigeria’s economic and social development were celebrated.

But beyond the award itself, the recognition points to a broader story about how Nigerian-owned companies are investing in manufacturing, innovation, sustainability and local value creation at a time when businesses across the country are under increasing pressure to do more with less.

Rite Foods’ selection was linked to its investments in modern manufacturing infrastructure, technology and product development, as well as its efforts in employment generation, community development and environmental sustainability.

Over the years, Rite Foods has developed a portfolio of brands that has become increasingly visible across Nigeria’s highly competitive consumer market.

Its brands include Bigi Carbonated Soft Drinks, Bigi Premium Drinking Water, Sosa Fruit Drinks, Fearless Energy Drink, Rite Spicy Beef Sausage, Bigi Beef Sausage and Bigi Flex Sausage.

The company has continued to expand its product offerings, introducing new flavours and packaging formats as it responds to changing consumer tastes and the demand for accessible locally produced products.

For Rite Foods, however, the impact story extends beyond what is found on supermarket shelves.

According to Goddie Ofose, Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of Industry Newspaper, the Top 50 Companies of Impact recognition was created to spotlight businesses whose activities demonstrate tangible economic, social and environmental value.

“Rite Foods distinguished itself through its commitment to innovation, sustainability, environmental preservation, and community development,” Ofose said.

One of the areas highlighted in the company’s recognition is its environmental intervention.

Ofose specifically pointed to Rite Foods’ Waste-Is-Naira (W.I.N.) programme and Riteonthebeach project, initiatives focused on plastic waste recovery and environmental awareness.

The programmes reflect a growing shift in corporate sustainability, where companies are increasingly expected to look beyond their factory gates and contribute to solving environmental problems within the communities where they operate.

The company’s approach to energy consumption was also cited.

According to Ofose, about 95 per cent of Rite Foods’ energy consumption comes from cleaner energy sources, including natural gas and solar power, while diesel accounts for approximately five per cent of its energy mix.

The energy strategy, he said, has helped the company reduce its environmental footprint while improving operational efficiency.

Rite Foods’ contribution to communities was another factor behind the recognition.

Its corporate social responsibility activities span areas including education, healthcare and economic empowerment, reflecting the company’s stated objective of creating value beyond its commercial operations.

For Ekuma Eze, Head, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, the award is an affirmation of the company’s wider approach to doing business.

“This honour is a reflection of the impact we are creating across multiple areas, from innovation and human capital development to community engagement, sustainability and support for initiatives that contribute to national development.”

Eze said innovation remains at the heart of Rite Foods’ strategy, particularly as consumer expectations and competition within Nigeria’s FMCG industry continue to evolve.

“For us, innovation is not simply about introducing new products. It is about understanding consumers, investing in people and technology, improving our processes, and creating products and solutions that deliver value. This recognition reinforces our commitment to doing more,” he added.

The latest award adds to a growing list of recognitions received by Rite Foods for its performance, innovation, leadership and sustainability efforts.

For a company operating in one of Nigeria’s most competitive consumer markets, the significance of the latest recognition goes beyond another trophy.

It reinforces the place of indigenous manufacturing and consumer brands in Nigeria’s economic story—and the growing expectation that companies should measure success not only by what they sell, but also by the value they create for people, communities and the environment.

Rite Foods says it will continue to invest in innovation, sustainability, people and communities while building a proudly Nigerian company capable of competing to global standards.
