OYETOLA, DO NOT BARGAIN CHERISHING LEGACY- Akin Adeyi.

In a statement made available on social media platforms Mr Akin Adeyi, a social commentator had called on the Osun State Governor Mr Gboyega Oyetola to be the wise man he was generally adjudged by the people to be when he rescind the rumoured plan of his administration to cede the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso to its Oyo State co owner of the institution.

According to Adeyi; a wise man coming to a new scene is expected to check some very important facts and values of the place either through history, record or people.

"One of the greatest assets of Osun State is LAUTECH. It has remained a cherishing LEGACY and the previous governments recognised this fact as such managed the ownership crisis with the carefulness it requires. Perhaps for their wisdom and foresight".

FACTS ABOUT LAUTECH,according to Akinadeyi includes;

1. LAUTECH has over 30,000 students
2.LAUTECH has 9 faculties in Ogbomoso and 1 in Osogbo
3.LAUTECH is owned by Oyo and Osun Governments
4.LAUTECH has over 600 staffers that are from Osun extraction,28 Professors
5.LAUTECH has accommodated more than 60% of families in South West through degree or post graduate courses at one time or the other
6.LAUTECH admits about 4000 Osun Indigenes every year
7.The Current Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH is from Osun State
8.LAUTECH has produced graduates that are making waves across the globe.
9.LAUTECH has intimating brand.
10.LAUTECH charges the lowest tution fees as a State University.

Statement traced the OWNERSHIP TUSSLE of the institution to the regime of Governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola in Osun and Alao Akala in Oyo State respectively which eventually led as far as to the  Supreme court.
"However, Governors Aregbesola of Osun and Late Ajimobi of Oyo decided to maintain the joint  Ownership having seen the strength and the opportunities posited in the institution".
Statement recognised Aregbesola,s sagacity and foresightedness in this particular case. "For Eight years in office as governor he was extremely careful not destroy that legacy".
Mr Adeyi further  said in the statement that there is a lopsidness and unequal distribution of physical infrastructure between Oyo and Osun State Governments. About 90% of the structures are in Ogbomoso and both States are expected to fund the school equally
"It therefor calls for the governor to apply a sound sense of judgement and ideas".

What are the steps to take?
Preamble: "The only legitimacy any party/State can have is when it is responsible and fulfilling in its due obligation.  Governor Seyi Makinde seems to recognize this fact and he been exploiting it maybe unchallenged too. Nothing could be worse than when LAUTECH Staff indigents of Osun are even happy with the intention of Oyo to take over the institution sake their salaries is guaranteed.
It is on record that there are different proposals stemmed from the Visitation panel decisions to situate new faculties in Osogbo which was all allegedly rebuffed, ignored and jettisoned.
Committee for the LAUTECH Ownership was constituted and most members are primarily those that have little or no knowledge about LAUTECH.
Giving up LAUTECH to Oyo by Oyetola could be akin to giving up his relevance. Posterity should be minded in his final decision to do so"
Adeyi asked; what  fate will befall the kver 600 staffers of the University that of Osun extraction?
"There has to be a categorical statement by Osun government that that they are going to be automatically admitted into Osun State University".
He went further to ask on what shall be the fate of over 4,000 Osun Citizens that gains admission into LAUTECH University yearly.
"Will the tution fees in Osun be reduced to accommodate the fees from less privileged as it is in LAUTECH?"
According to Adeyi in this press release; LAUTECH issue is undoubtedly going to erase every positive steps of Governor Oyetola may have recorded in the last two years if he does otherwise. Reference to this is the stigma that liquidated Late Governor Ajimobi Inspite of his numerous achievements in the state he ruled for eight years".
Statement warned that Governor Oyetola must also be careful with the Committee's advise. "Osun stands the greater loser care not taken in this".
Akin Adeyi recalled on how a multi billion hotel meant to be situated in Osogbo was sadly taken to Ogbomoso recenly due to what many people say was Osun's faults.
