Since His Excellency, the deputy governor of Ondo State, Barrister Alfred Agboola Ajayi resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and pitched tent with Peoples Democratic Part (PDP), but hold on to the exalted seat of number two man in Alagbaka Hill Top Office, so much hushpuppining, wood berrying and much more have been going on with the governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu as victim.
From his battle to get his party ticket to seek reelection in the October 10, 2020 gubernatorial election, Akeredolu has let off his guide for many fast thinking guys around him, the party and associates to gain access into his deep pocket.
The first set of beneficiaries are APC top notches in Abuja during the reign of erstwhile national chairman, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomnhole and members of the National Working Committee (NWC). If the report was correct, about a billion naira of Akeredolu 'hard earned' money must have went down the drain in his effort to gain attention and undeserved favour of these national officers of APC.
Then, the national vice chairman of APC (Southwest), Bankole Oluwajana set up his own team of fraudsters to get their own share of the loot from Akeredolu by coming up with the kangaroo story of making peace with Idowu Otetubi, the then factional chairman of APC in the State so that Aketi could get an indirect mode of primary poll.
With the arrangement, Oluwajana and Otetubi are currently smiling to their banks as both got huge shares from the governor for this package, and now, Otetubi has gotten more as Akeredolu has nominated him as commissioner designate. What a Woodberry!
Now is the members of the Ondo State House of Assembly turn to hushpupping the embattled governor on the impeachment of his deputy, Ajayi who has refused to leave the government three weeks after resignation from the party that jointly presented him and Akeredolu for the November 26, 2016 Governorship election won by APC.
In order to maximise the opportunity provided, the members of the Assembly divided themselves into two teams; Team Hushpuppi and Team Woodberry. The team Hushpuppi is led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, while Team Woodberry is led by deputy speaker, Rt. Hon. Ogundeji Iroju.
Unknown to our dear Arakunrin Akeredolu, both teams are working in one accord and with a single goal to wicked and force the governor to vomit a large portion of the state fund he has cleverly swallowed into his big belle and that of his family members and cronies, in the last three and half years without given a dam about the penury condition of the 26-member Assembly.
And like magic, by last Sunday night, Oleyelogun succeeded in personally moving a large sum of money packed in a green Ghana-must go bag into his red Benz, out of the Government House Ground; and with this, the drama started in the hallowed chambers of the Assembly the following day (Monday) when the impeachment move began with an impeachment notice signed by fourteen members led by the Speaker himself against the other team, led by Iroju who didn't sign the notice.
Currently, the two teams in the Assembly are doing well and playing their roles accordingly, since they were sure that more Ghana-must go are awaiting them from the Government House, as the impeachment drama continue to unfold.
What Akeredolu and his deflated team refused to realise is that every member of the State Assembly is a diehard loyalist of Agboola Ajayi, and would never denied him, not for Akeredolu sake.
Ajayi has been their dependable ally and pillar of support all the while when Aketi refused to cater for their needs as legislators for over three years. Now is the payback time for Agbo for the goods he has done for them.
When we, the ordinary citizens of this state, are patiently awaiting the end and outcome of the present drama on going inside, and most importantly, outside the hollowed chambers of the State Assembly Complex, we hope government businesses will not suffer and our people will not be the grass that got burnt as the two elephants fight on.
As the heat get hotter, the governor is busy looking for safe covers, cool and cold arenas, more friendly friends and faithful aides. He has been lately, generous with appointments of aides and special assistants, including a new Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi (SSG) few hours the former occupier, Hon. Sunday Abegunde dumped the job; a commissioner designate in person of former factional state chairman of APC, Idowu Otetubi and two special assistants, Oluwole Molehin and one other to strengthen his public commentary.
However, as a matter of urgency, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) must at this very crucial time, come to the rescue of Ondo State before Governor Rotimi Akeredolu selfishly suffocate the finances of the state to death before handing over power to a newly elected governor comes February 24, 2021.
God safes Ondo State from the hands of all these Hushpuppis and Woodberries currently redirecting our common wealth into their personal accounts through our embattled and Covid-19 infested governor. Amen!
