The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has announced the rescheduling of the highly anticipated Women in Security Conference (WINSEC) Summit earlier slated for Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
The decision was reached during the first physical meeting of the WINSEC Planning Committee held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Josto Hotel, Jahi, Abuja.
The meeting, which was chaired by the NAWOJ National Chairperson, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, focused on reviewing preparations and ensuring that all necessary arrangements are put in place for a successful and impactful conference.
Following deliberations by the committee, it was agreed that the summit would no longer hold on June 30 as earlier scheduled. The event has now been rescheduled to Thursday, July 30, 2026.
The postponement, according to the organisers, is aimed at providing more time for effective coordination, wider participation and proper execution of the conference objectives.
WINSEC is expected to bring together key stakeholders to discuss issues around security, women’s participation, peacebuilding and national development.
The NAWOJ leadership reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a successful summit that will provide a platform for meaningful conversations and stronger collaboration towards addressing security challenges and promoting the role of women in nation-building.
With the new date now fixed for July 30, 2026, preparations are expected to continue as stakeholders look forward to a landmark edition of the Women in Security Conference.
