All roads will lead to Dejavu Hotel, Akure, this Sunday at noon as the Akure Emerald Lions Club hosts the official presentation of Lion Olufisoye Farake Adenitan as its 6th President.
The event, organised under the umbrella of Lions International, will also feature the installation of other club officers for the 2025–2026 Lions year, alongside a ₦25 million fundraising luncheon to support key community projects.
The ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries from across Ondo State and beyond, including government officials, business leaders, professionals, and members of the humanitarian community.
Lion Adenitan’s emergence as the 6th President marks a significant leadership transition for the Akure Emerald Lions Club, which operates under District 404 A4 Nigeria. Her presidency is anticipated to strengthen the club’s commitment to impactful service delivery in areas such as healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and support for vulnerable groups.
Speaking ahead of the event, members of the organising committee described the ceremony as a defining moment for the club.
“This is not just a change of leadership but a renewal of our commitment to humanitarian service. The incoming president has demonstrated capacity and dedication to service, and we are confident her tenure will bring meaningful impact,” a club representative said.
A major highlight of the event is the ₦25 million fundraising luncheon, designed to mobilise resources for ongoing and future interventions within Akure and its environs. The projects are expected to address critical needs, including medical outreach, educational support initiatives, and community-based empowerment programmes.
As part of one of the world’s largest service organisations, Lions International continues to play a vital role in addressing global and local challenges, with strong focus areas including vision care, hunger relief, disaster response, and youth development.
The installation of other club officers during the ceremony further underscores the importance of teamwork and collective leadership in achieving the club’s objectives for the new Lions year.
Sunday’s event is also expected to provide a platform for networking and collaboration, bringing together stakeholders committed to social impact and community development.
Organisers have called on individuals and corporate organisations to support the fundraising initiative, noting that collective efforts are essential in driving sustainable development.
With preparations in top gear, the event promises to be a blend of leadership, service, and philanthropy, reinforcing the role of civic organisations in grassroots development.
