IKEJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT HOLDS 2026 BUDGET STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING


Ikeja Local Government today hosted its 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Meeting, themed “Budget of Better Days 1.0”, at the Council Secretariat. The forum brought together community leaders, political stakeholders, religious representatives, youth groups, and residents to deliberate on developmental priorities for the coming fiscal year.

The meeting began with a welcome address by Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Odubeko, who thanked stakeholders for their partnership and underscored the council’s commitment to participatory governanceDr. (Mrs.) Yemisi Razak, Head of Budget & Economic Planning, explained that the forum built on prior engagements across the six wards, ensuring community feedback is incorporated into the 2026 budget.

In his keynote address, Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), emphasized that the “Budget of Better Days 1.0” reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, improved infrastructure, better schools, enhanced healthcare delivery, welfare for the vulnerable, and sustainable community development. Chairman AKOD reassured participants that all inputs would influence the final fiscal plan and stressed that the budget would translate into tangible projects improving lives across Ikeja.

The interactive session saw lively contributions from stakeholders, with the Chairman responding to all suggestions. Notable attendees included Vice Chairman Hon. Abisola Omisore, Legislative Leader Hon. Rasheed Adisa Ogunseye, the APC LGA Chairman Alhaji Dally Adeokun, community leaders, Baales, CAN and religious stakeholders, NYCN Ikeja executives, and representatives of people living with disabilities.

Chairman AKOD concluded by reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance and community-driven development, stating, “The 2026 Budget will bring Better Days to the good people of Ikeja.”
