…Vows legal action against offenders
Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a renewed warning to truck operators over the unauthorised use of its logo, stressing that the practice continues to damage the company’s reputation.
Despite previous cautions, the company noted that some truckers unaffiliated with Dangote still display its logo on their vehicles, in some cases linking the brand to accidents and other incidents in which it had no involvement.
In a statement, Dangote said it will intensify monitoring in collaboration with security agencies and law enforcement, while initiating legal proceedings against offenders.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group,” the company stated.
Dangote also expressed concern about the spread of misinformation falsely linking its fleet to road mishaps, urging the media and public to verify facts before attributing such incidents to the company.
The Dangote Group runs one of Africa’s largest commercial fleets, with over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria alone, including 3,000 operated by third-party contractors. On a daily basis, more than 6,000 vehicles are deployed to sustain its logistics operations, directly and indirectly supporting over 36,000 jobs.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to safe operations, noting its ongoing collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulators to enforce best practices in road safety, training, and compliance across its network.
