A Lagos-based clergyman, Prophet Elijah Bamidele Ilukholor of Christ House of Prayer and Deliverance Ministry, has spoken out against Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, accusing the prominent Catholic priest of being envious of the rising influence of Evangelist Ebuka Obi, founder of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach.
Prophet Ilukholor's reaction follows a recent program in Enugu, where Rev. Fr. Mbaka reportedly remarked that just because someone had washed his feet didn’t qualify him to start a ministry—an apparent jab at Evangelist Ebuka Obi.
The prophet found the comment surprising, especially given that Fr. Mbaka had previously blessed and anointed Ebuka, affirming him as fit for God’s work and urging him not to be intimidated.
Ilukholor urged Fr. Mbaka to take a cue from the biblical relationship between Prophet Elijah and Elisha, highlighting how Elijah prayed for Elisha to receive a double portion of anointing rather than being envious of his successor.
“There’s no need for competition or criticism when we should be building each other up in the body of Christ,” Ilukholor added.
