The Indigenes of Osun in Canada (IOIC) is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary with a Leadership, Culture and Investment Summit and Awards Ceremony bringing together Osun indigenes, professionals, entrepreneurs, investors and cultural advocates in Canada.
The anniversary celebration is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Wesley Banquet Hall in North York, Ontario.
The event will combine a celebration of IOIC's 15-year journey with conversations around leadership, cultural identity, investment, innovation and sustainable development.
IOIC President, Prince Olasunkanmi Adebayo (Joge), described the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on the association's journey while looking ahead to new opportunities for its community.
“Fifteen years represents more than the passage of time; it represents the sacrifices, resilience and collective commitment of men and women who believe that our heritage can remain a source of strength even thousands of kilometres away from home,” Adebayo said.
He said the celebration would honour those who have contributed to the association while creating new pathways for leadership, investment and community prosperity.
A major feature of the programme will be an awards presentation recognising individuals selected for their achievements and contributions.
The award recipients are Otunba Adewale Adepoju, Dr Olakunle Ibitoye, Mr Segun Akanni, Dr Remi Adewale, Pharmacist Bola Banjoko, Dr Joshua Yusuf, Dr Ola Kassim, Dr Adekunle Adeyemi, Chief Tola Adeniyi and Mr Wale Rabiu, Chief Executive Officer of Matlock Bread.
According to the organisers, the awards are intended to promote service, professional excellence, entrepreneurship and positive contributions to society.
The Leadership, Culture and Investment Summit will also provide an avenue for networking and strategic engagement among professionals, business owners, investors and community stakeholders.
Professor Francis Fasanu, a scholar and Professor of Finance and Accounting, will be the speaker at the summit.
The programme will blend Osun and Yoruba cultural heritage with discussions on contemporary issues around leadership, business and investment, reflecting IOIC's effort to maintain cultural connections while contributing to Canadian society.
As it prepares to celebrate 15 years, IOIC is positioning the anniversary not only as a reflection on its past but also as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and explore new pathways for cultural, professional and economic engagement.
The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. at Wesley Banquet Hall, 69 Milvan Drive, North York, Ontario.
Community organisations, business leaders, professionals and friends of Osun have been invited to join the celebration.
