RENEWED HOPE INITIATIVE: ONDO FIRST LADY, MRS. SEUN AIYEDATIWA HOSTS FIRST LADY, SEN. OLUREMI TINUBU AS SHE FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF 10,000 MIDWIVES’ KITS IN SOUTH-WEST

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday flagged off the distribution of 10,000 professional kits—comprising Crocs and scrubs—to midwives across the South-West geopolitical zone under the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Intervention Programme.

The flag-off ceremony, which took place at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome) in Akure, Ondo State, is part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen the healthcare delivery system and support frontline health workers.

The First Lady emphasized the crucial role midwives play in safeguarding maternal and child health, stressing that the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) is committed to addressing major health challenges affecting women. These include the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, Syphilis, and Tuberculosis.

“This intervention is not only about equipment; it is about showing our midwives that they are valued. It is about reaffirming our commitment to the health and well-being of Nigerian women,” she stated.

Earlier, Senator Tinubu visited the Secretariat of the Obas' Council in Akure, where she sought the support of traditional rulers for the RHI's health-focused interventions targeted at women and children.

Welcoming the First Lady to Ondo State, the Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, commended her passion and proactive approach to improving women's health and empowerment in the country.

“This initiative underscores the power of purposeful leadership. We appreciate Your Excellency’s commitment to women’s welfare and we are honored to host this important programme in Ondo State,” the Governor remarked.

The host, First Lady of Ondo State, Chief (Mrs.) Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, applauded the Renewed Hope Initiative for its inclusive and impactful agenda.

“Our women are the backbone of our communities. With the support from Her Excellency and the RHI, we are confident that the future is brighter and healthier,” she said.

Following the event, Senator Tinubu also paid a courtesy visit to Afenifere National Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, at his residence in Akure.

Other First Ladies in attendance included:
Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, wife of Deputy Senate President, Hajia Hauwa Barau Jibrin, Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Ondo State Governor, Oluwaseun and wife of Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mrs Abosede Adelami, Royal Fathers, dignitaries among others.

This health intervention is expected to enhance the dignity and efficiency of midwives in the South-West, aligning with the broader goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
