Are you a Secondary School 2 (SS2) student aged 14 to 17 years and passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)? Or do you know any bright student(s) interested in STEM subjects and eager to showcase their brilliance to earn bragging rights as “Nigeria’s Best STEM Student”? If so, we’ve got some exciting news for you!
Interswitch has officially opened entries for the 7th edition of InterswitchSPAK – the prestigious national science competition dedicated to empowering young African students through STEM education.
More than just a competition, InterswitchSPAK serves as a platform for learning, innovation, and personal growth by identifying and rewarding outstanding secondary school students across Africa. The goal? To drive innovation and equip brilliant young minds with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in STEM fields, ultimately contributing to Africa’s fourth industrial revolution.
For audiences who have followed the competition since its first edition, it’s remarkable how much it has evolved over the past seven years—with an ever-growing pool of participants across Nigeria and increasingly attractive scholarship prizes awarded to top performers each season.
For the second time in the show’s history, the grand prize winner of InterswitchSPAK will walk away with: A ₦15 million tertiary education scholarship (spread over five years), a laptop, monthly stipends, and bragging rights as Nigeria’s Best STEM Student.
Additionally: The second-place winner will receive a ₦10 million scholarship (spread over three years) and a laptop. While the third-place winner will receive a ₦5 million scholarship (for one year) and a laptop.
There are also amazing cash prizes for the 4th to 9th place winners, as well as rewards for the teachers of the top 27 students—amounting to well over ₦30 million in scholarships and incentives. Tempting, right? We thought so too!
The InterswitchSPAK competition is designed to be both challenging and fun for participants.
Here’s how it works:
- Schools register their top 20 SS2 Science students for the competition.
- Registered students participate in the National Qualifying Examinations to test their STEM knowledge and compete for advancement to the next stage.
- The top 81 students from the online exams will then battle it out in an exciting, televised quiz show that will air over 13 weeks.
The future is bright. SPAK it to life!
