FOOD DRIVE: RESPITE FOR THOUSANDS AS GLO FOUNDATION’S ‘FOOD DRIVE’ REACHES AJAH

Thousands of families in Ikota, Ajah, Lagos, received much-needed relief on Saturday as Glo Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Globacom, in collaboration with Lagos Food Bank, extended its ‘Food Drive’ initiative to the community.

At the distribution event held at New Generation Baptist School, Ikota, beneficiaries—mostly women and children—gathered as early as 7 a.m. to receive food and essential household items. Each package contained staple foods such as rice, garri, spaghetti, noodles, tomato paste, seasoning cubes, sardines, salt, vegetable oil, and bread, along with hygiene products like toothbrushes.

The latest outreach follows a similar exercise held in Bariga two weeks ago, where thousands of vulnerable residents benefited from Globacom’s generosity.

Speaking at the event, Globacom’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to uplifting underprivileged Nigerians.

“Giving brings joy and smiles to the faces of beneficiaries, as we have seen here today. It also makes us happy that we are able to touch lives in an interconnected world,” she said.

She further emphasized that the Glo Foundation is working on additional projects aimed at positively impacting various communities across Nigeria.

BENEFICIARIES EXPRESS JOY AND GRATITUDE

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as recipients expressed their heartfelt appreciation through singing and dancing. Several beneficiaries shared how the initiative had come at a crucial time for them.

Christina Itoro, a POS operator from Akwa Ibom, was elated upon receiving her package. “When I opened the carton and saw the content, I was so excited. May God bless Globacom and its staff,” she said.

For Godwin Mary, a Kunu drink seller from Benue State, the support came at a critical moment when her business was struggling. “Globacom has come to my aid at a time I needed it most. I’m grateful they remembered us,” she said.

Housewife Sarah Oliseh also shared her excitement. “This will go a long way in helping my family. I am very happy and thankful,” she said.

With the success of the ‘Food Drive’ in Ikota and previous locations, Glo Foundation continues to reinforce its dedication to social impact, bringing hope to thousands of Nigerian families in need.
