The Ekimogun Roundtable, a prominent socioeconomic group comprising Ondo indigenes both at home and in the diaspora, has appointed Otunba Kayode Fagun as the Chairman of its Enterprise Roundtable.
In a statement released by the group’s Acting Secretary, Ms. Christiana Ayodele, and made available to journalists in Ondo City on Thursday, the organization described the Eki Enterprise Roundtable (EER) as one of its quick-win initiatives aimed at empowering the people of Ondo and enhancing the city’s economic growth.
EMPOWERMENT AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
According to the statement, the EER initiative will kick off with a ₦2 million financial support package in its first phase and will also provide free access to 50 acres of arable land throughout the project’s lifespan.
Furthermore, the EER has established a strategic alliance with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) to provide training and technical support across the agricultural value chain.
Ms. Christiana Ayodele emphasized that the commitment of the EER team has proven that Ondo people are highly enterprising and can compete globally. She also urged political leaders to adopt a more engaging approach and prioritize the welfare and development of the people over personal interests.
CALL FOR ACCOUNTABILITY IN AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
The group expressed concern over the mismanagement of over ₦350 million allocated by the Federal Government in recent years for farm implements and other empowerment projects in the constituency. It lamented that due to a lack of purposeful representation, there has been little to show for these allocations.
CELEBRATING HON. KAYODE FAGUN
In addition to his appointment, the Ekimogun Roundtable celebrated Hon. Kayode Fagun on his birthday, commending his loyalty, dedication, and selfless service to the Ekimogun community. The group reaffirmed its high regard for him and wished him continued success and fulfillment as he marks his special day.
