FORMER CNN STAR ISHA SESAY RETURNS TO SPOTLIGHT ON GLO-SPONSORED AFRICAN VOICES

Former Cable News Network (CNN) International anchor and award-winning journalist Isha Sesay is set to make a special return to the global broadcaster this week, this time as the featured guest on African Voices, the flagship magazine programme sponsored by telecommunications giant Globacom.

The highly anticipated episode will spotlight Sesay's remarkable journey from one of the world's most respected television journalists to becoming a leading advocate for girls' education and women's empowerment across Africa.

Born on January 6, 1976, the British-Sierra Leonean journalist built an impressive career before joining CNN in 2005, having previously worked with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Sky News, where she earned widespread recognition for her outstanding reporting and presentation skills.

A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, Sesay quickly rose through the ranks at CNN, anchoring several flagship programmes, including International Desk, where she interviewed world leaders such as former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

She also became a familiar face on Anderson Cooper 360°, presenting the 360 Bulletin, before later anchoring CNN NewsCenter, further cementing her reputation as one of the network's most accomplished international broadcasters.

Beyond journalism, Sesay has dedicated much of her life to improving educational opportunities for girls across Africa. In 2014, she founded Women Everywhere Can Lead, a non-profit organisation focused on expanding access to education and leadership opportunities for young girls.

In the upcoming edition of African Voices, viewers will also hear Sesay speak candidly about one of the most personal chapters of her life—her journey to motherhood through In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) as a single mother, a story that attracted global attention and inspired many women around the world.

The programme offers an intimate look at her distinguished journalism career, humanitarian work and personal resilience, highlighting the experiences that continue to shape her life and legacy.

The episode will premiere on Saturday at 7:30 a.m., with a repeat broadcast at 11:00 a.m. Additional airings are scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday at 3:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., and Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. The broadcast schedule will continue the following week, with the final repeat airing on Monday at 3:00 a.m.
