MIKANO MOTORS BOOSTS LAGOS SECURITY WITH MAX PICKUP VEHICLES, MOFID KARAMEH HAILS SANWO-OLU’S LEADERSHIP

Mikano Motors has strengthened Lagos State’s security architecture with the donation of a fleet of Max pickup vehicles to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), a move that underscores the growing role of private-sector partnership in enhancing public safety and rapid response operations across the state.

The official handover ceremony was held at the Mikano Motors showroom in Victoria Island, Lagos, where top executives of Mikano International Limited, led by its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mofid Karameh, received senior officials of the LSSTF, headed by its Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan. The event also featured a guided tour of the showroom and interactions focused on strengthening collaboration between government and corporate stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Karameh commended Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for what he described as sustained and intentional investment in security infrastructure, noting that safety remains the foundation of economic growth and prosperity. He said the Governor’s recent engagement with private-sector leaders at the LSSTF Breakfast Meeting provided clear insight into the state government’s security strategy and inspired stronger corporate participation.

According to Karameh, Mikano’s donation reflects the company’s long-standing belief that businesses must actively support the communities in which they operate. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen Lagos’ security framework and improve the quality of life for residents.

In recognition of the gesture, the LSSTF presented the Distinguished Honour Award to Mikano International Limited. The award was formally received by Mr. Karameh on behalf of the company, in appreciation of its leadership and prompt response to the state’s call for support.

The National Operations Manager of Mikano, Mr. Syam Abdulkadir, described the donation as a practical contribution to safeguarding lives and property in Lagos. He said the Max pickup vehicles were donated to enhance operational efficiency for security agencies supported by the Trust Fund.

“We are proud to support the Lagos State Security Trust Fund with these Max pickup vehicles. This donation reflects our commitment to the safety and well-being of Lagosians,” Abdulkadir said, adding that Mikano’s over three decades of operations in Nigeria demonstrate its dedication to nation-building and economic development.

Receiving the vehicles, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan praised Mikano for setting the pace in private-sector support for security. He described the donation as a positive outcome of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s engagement with corporate leaders, which emphasized that contributions to the Trust Fund could come in the form of equipment and logistics, not just financial donations.

“This is a proud moment for Lagos State, for Mikano, and for the Lagos State Security Trust Fund,” Ogunsan said. “Mikano has shown leadership by being among the first to respond to the Governor’s call, and we are grateful for this show of partnership.”

He also encouraged Lagos residents and Nigerians at large to support companies that invest in public safety, noting that such partnerships are critical to sustaining security gains across the state.

Dr. Ogunsan assured that the donated vehicles would be deployed responsibly to enhance security operations and improve response times, reinforcing Lagos State’s commitment to safety, stability, and economic growth.
