ACCESS HOLDINGS AMPLIFIES MEN’S HEALTH AWARENESS WITH MONTH-LONG GROUPWIDE ACTIVATIONS ACROSS AFRICA

Access Holdings has reaffirmed its commitment to employee wellness and community health through an expansive, multinational activation marking the 2025 International Men’s Health Month. The Group’s subsidiaries across Africa—including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Botswana, Rwanda, Guinea, Angola, and Namibia—executed coordinated initiatives aimed at improving awareness, early detection, mental resilience, and preventive healthcare for men.

The campaign underscored a message often missing in public health conversations: men deserve intentional care, support, and safe spaces for health dialogue.

Nigeria Leads with Conversations and Community Screening

In Nigeria, the largest operational base of Access Holdings and Access Bank, the month opened with a special edition of the Under the Tie podcast, focused on men’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

The organisation also extended its impact to the wider community, conducting free prostate screenings in Ebute Metta, Lagos—a gesture that reflected its understanding that employee well-being is deeply connected to community health.

Ghana Drives Blue November Visibility Campaign

In Ghana, the bank embraced the global Blue November identity with a vibrant awareness drive. Staff observed themed dress days, participated in wellness talks, and attended a notable health session led by Dr. George Bediako Inkoom that simplified preventive health practices.

Botswana Prioritises Mental Health

Access Bank Botswana took a holistic psychological approach, hosting a candid mental wellness session facilitated by the bank’s wellness partner, Lyra. Employees engaged in open conversations about stress, emotional strain, and mental resilience. To balance the seriousness, activities like the “Spot the Mo-staches” quiz and a ‘Wear Blue’ photo day strengthened camaraderie.

Kenya Expands Awareness Through Large-Scale Webinar

In Kenya, staff wore blue ribbons every Friday, sparking daily conversations around men’s health. The subsidiary hosted a highly attended International Men’s Day webinar with 276 participants, including customers and staff of the National Bank of Kenya. The session served as a precursor to scheduled prostate screenings and wellness checks supported by multiple medical partners.

Rwanda Demystifies Prostate Cancer

In Rwanda, Access Bank partnered with AVEGA Clinic for a detailed prostate cancer awareness session, complemented by an easy-to-understand educational video. The visual approach made sensitive medical information more approachable for staff.

Guinea Records High Community Engagement

Access Bank Guinea executed one of the Group’s most far-reaching campaigns, engaging over 2,400 people through in-house activities, public sensitisation, and digital communication. Blue ribbon days and health information drives ensured sustained visibility throughout the month.

Angola Encourages Open Health Conversations

In Angola, the focus was on dialogue and safe spaces. With support from partner Atrevit, the subsidiary facilitated open conversations around commonly ignored men’s health challenges and encouraged staff to engage in proactive healthcare behaviour.

Namibia Closes the Month with High Energy and Participation

Namibia delivered one of the most vibrant engagement programmes across the Group, featuring dress competitions, awareness sessions, team-building activities, and the creative “Mo Your Own Way in Blue” event. The campaign climaxed with a “Move for Movember” hike, reinforcing physical fitness and social bonding.

A Unified Commitment to Men’s Wellness

Across all markets, Access Holdings demonstrated the impact of coordinated corporate action in supporting men’s health. The initiative blended medical outreach, mental health support, staff engagement, and community programmes to promote a culture where men feel seen, heard, and empowered to prioritise their well-being.

With this campaign, Access Holdings not only marked International Men’s Health Month but also strengthened its position as a leading advocate for holistic wellness across Africa.
