UNITED STEPS AGAINST CANCER: ACCESS HOLDINGS RALLIES FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

In a heartfelt show of solidarity, more than 300 participants — many of them employees of Access Holdings Plc — joined a 6-kilometre walk in Lagos on Saturday to raise awareness about breast cancer, in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event, themed “United Steps Against Cancer,” was a powerful reminder that the fight against breast cancer begins with awareness, compassion, and collective action.

The morning began with energy and unity as participants walked through designated routes, waving pink flags and sharing messages of hope. The Group’s initiative aimed not just to raise awareness but to encourage early detection and timely intervention — key steps in reducing the impact of breast cancer on Nigerian women.

At the end of the walk, participants converged for health talks and free breast cancer screenings, practical actions that turned advocacy into measurable impact. By the close of the day, about 50 women were screened, with several receiving professional guidance for follow-up care.

Each screening, organisers said, represented more than a medical test — it symbolised a story of courage, of mothers, sisters, and friends choosing knowledge over fear.

PURPOSE IN EVERY STEP

For Access Holdings, the initiative goes beyond corporate social responsibility; it reflects a deep-seated belief that health is foundational to progress.

The Group’s sustainability strategy is anchored on four key pillars — Health, Education, Environment, and Entrepreneurship — all aimed at making a positive impact across Africa.

“Health is a universal concern, and through initiatives like this, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting communities and empowering individuals with information and access,” a company representative noted.

The atmosphere during the walk was vibrant — filled with laughter, shared stories, and moments of reflection. Employees, friends, and families walked side by side, united by a shared purpose and compassion for those battling cancer.

MORE THAN AN EVENT

The campaign was not about medals or finish lines, but about movement with meaning — a demonstration that small, collective actions can ripple outward to touch countless lives.

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month draws to a close, Access Holdings says it remains dedicated to using its platform to promote early detection, spread awareness, and support survivors.

The walk, organisers emphasised, was both a call to action and a celebration of resilience — proving once again that the most powerful change begins with a single step, taken together.
