In a renewed show of inter-council cooperation, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Mojeed Balogun, and the Acting Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. Vinod Obasa, have agreed to deepen collaboration between both local governments for improved service delivery and infrastructure development.
The partnership, sealed during a courtesy visit by Hon. Obasa and his management team to Ikeja House, focuses on key areas such as infrastructure rehabilitation, tackling abandoned buildings, and youth sports development.
Highlighting the historical bond between both councils, Hon. Balogun noted that “Agege was carved out of Ikeja several decades ago, and our relationship has always been that of brothers working toward common progress.”
The leaders and their management teams embarked on an inspection tour of critical sites, including Akin Doherty Road, the Ikeja-Along–Capitol Road axis, and the Ashade Market construction site. They also visited a dilapidated building at Dairy Farm Estate, which both councils agreed must be demolished within 60 days due to safety concerns.
Hon. Obasa described the engagement as a “homecoming,” pledging Agege’s full cooperation toward achieving shared developmental goals.
Both councils reaffirmed their commitment to turning discussions into concrete actions that will improve living standards, strengthen governance, and deliver visible dividends of democracy to residents.
