SOLUDO’S SCORECARD PRESENTATION TO EU/UK NDI ANAMBRA: A DIALOGUE IN ACCOUNTABILITY – CHRISTIAN ABURIME

Accountability, like charity, must begin at home. This was the principle echoed as the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, took his administration’s performance scorecard to the Nigerian Diaspora in the United Kingdom and Europe during a town hall meeting held on Easter Monday in London.

In a review of the event, Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, described the town hall as the culmination of a strategic stakeholder engagement tour, which has previously held in Awka, Lagos, and Abuja. These sessions have provided platforms for Governor Soludo to present transparent accounts of his administration’s achievements in its first three years to Ndi Anambra, whom he consistently refers to as his employers.

Aburime noted that the London engagement underscored Governor Soludo’s unique approach to accountability and governance, particularly his emphasis on fiscal prudence and responsible leadership. Unlike many sub-national governments grappling with debt burdens, Soludo proudly stated that his administration has avoided heavy reliance on World Bank loans, choosing instead to pursue development through strategic resource management.

“The governor’s openness to face constituents directly and answer critical questions highlights a refreshing model of leadership grounded in transparency and dialogue,” Aburime said.

More than just a political outing, the London town hall was interactive and impactful, sparking meaningful exchanges between the governor and members of the Anambra Diaspora, including professionals, entrepreneurs, and investors. Governor Soludo extended a passionate call to action—urging Ndi Anambra abroad to “think home” and be part of the transformative journey underway in the state.

Aburime emphasized that Governor Soludo’s approach redefines stakeholder engagement, moving beyond patronage politics to embrace inclusive governance. By actively involving citizens at home and abroad in the state’s development, the administration is fostering a sense of collective ownership and dismantling the patron-client culture that has hindered long-term growth in other regions.

“The London town hall is a testament to the governor’s far-reaching vision of an Anambra smart megacity. His efforts to mobilize Diaspora expertise and investment are bold and forward-thinking,” Aburime added.

As the Soludo administration continues to soar under the banner of One State, One People, One Agenda, this ongoing dialogue with stakeholders—especially those in the Diaspora—may well become the cornerstone of its sustainable development and second-term success story.
