OUR EASE: GOV AIYEDATIWA APPROVES EMPLOYMENT OF 1,010 SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS, DIRECTS IMMEDIATE DOCUMENTATION
- List Published by TESCOM; Beneficiaries to Begin Documentation Today
In fulfillment of his promise to address the shortage of teachers in public schools across Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the employment of 1,010 new teachers for secondary schools in the state.
The approval follows the completion of a rigorous recruitment process conducted by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), which screened thousands of applicants last year.
The list of successful candidates will be made public today online and will also be displayed at the TESCOM headquarters and zonal offices across the state from tomorrow (Tuesday). All selected candidates are expected to begin their documentation process immediately.
Governor Aiyedatiwa had earlier sanctioned the recruitment of 1,000 secondary school teachers and 1,000 primary school teachers, initiating a comprehensive hiring process by TESCOM and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). While the final list for secondary school teachers has now been approved, the primary school recruitment list is in its final stages.
The governor has consistently expressed concern over the shortage of teachers in public schools, particularly in rural communities. To address this challenge, he directed that recruitment be based on the specific staffing needs of under-resourced schools across the state.
This massive recruitment drive is part of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s broader efforts to revamp the education sector in Ondo State. Last Friday, he approved the payment of ₦633 million for the registration of students sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Additionally, the governor recently approved the upgrade and conversion of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, into a University of Agriculture and Agribusiness, further demonstrating his administration’s commitment to advancing education in the state.
