Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has been honored as The Sun Newspaper’s Governor of the Year 2024 in recognition of his visionary leadership and outstanding achievements in governance, particularly in infrastructure and transformational advancements across Anambra State.
The prestigious award was presented to Governor Soludo on March 1, 2025, at a grand event held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The ceremony was attended by top government officials, senators, and key figures from both the public and private sectors, who commended him for his remarkable impact in critical areas such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, human capital development, economic innovation, and security.
Presenting the award, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, alongside The Sun Newspaper publisher, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, lauded Governor Soludo for his exemplary leadership, which has positioned Anambra as a thriving economic hub. She emphasized that his administration’s numerous developmental projects highlight his commitment to making the state a destination where business, investment, and economic activities flourish.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to The Sun Publishing Limited for the recognition, dedicating the award to the hardworking people of Anambra State.
"I want to dedicate this award to the good people of Anambra—the keke drivers, artisans, market men and women—who work tirelessly to make our state great," he said.
Governor Soludo’s leadership has earned him multiple accolades. Recently, he was recognized as the Best-Performing Governor in Primary Healthcare Delivery in the Southeast and Nigeria overall. The award was jointly presented by the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation, Federal Ministry of Health, and UNICEF.
Additionally, Anambra State ranked fourth in the 2024 BudgIT State of States report for fiscal performance and sustainability. This recognition underscores the state’s exceptional fiscal responsibility, economic management, and healthcare delivery under Soludo’s administration.
