DG, NIGERIA-CHINA STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP CELEBRATES LANTERN FESTIVAL WITH CHINESE COMMUNITY

On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), Mr. Joseph Tegbe, has extended warm felicitations to the people of China and the Chinese community in Nigeria on the occasion of the Lantern Festival, which marks the grand finale of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations.


Tegbe emphasized the strong economic and bilateral relations between Nigeria and China, highlighting the two nations' shared commitment to advancing economic and infrastructural development.

In his message, the NCSP DG conveyed President Tinubu's best wishes to the Chinese government and people, reinforcing Nigeria’s appreciation for the enduring partnership between both nations. He wished the Chinese community in Nigeria a joyous celebration filled with love, happiness, and prosperity, in alignment with the diplomatic ties fostering mutual growth.

Tegbe also expressed gratitude for the hospitality of the Chinese business community during his recent visit to China, where he engaged with leading corporations, banks, and business leaders. The trip focused on reviewing priority projects under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and exploring funding opportunities to accelerate development in key sectors of the Nigerian economy.

During his engagements, the NCSP DG secured strategic agreements aimed at bolstering economic diversification, infrastructure development, technology transfer, and job creation, further strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and China.

The Lantern Festival, also known as the Spring Lantern Festival, is a traditional celebration held on the fifteenth day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar. It marks the conclusion of the New Year festivities and has grown into one of the most spectacular cultural events in China, characterized by vibrant lantern displays and joyful festivities.
