The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has commended beneficiaries of the ‘1 Youth, 2 Skills’ initiative for volunteering to train 1,000 additional youths, further advancing Governor Charles Soludo’s vision for youth empowerment and skills development in the state.
During its second meeting of the year, held on February 10, 2025, at the Council Chamber in Awka, ANSEC lauded the initiative as a milestone in building a skilled workforce and fostering entrepreneurship among Anambra’s youths.
According to a statement released by Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the Council recognized the beneficiaries’ contributions as a turning point in the drive for sustainable economic empowerment. Governor Soludo’s administration remains committed to nurturing talent and innovation, particularly among secondary and tertiary institution students, through specialized technological skill training and research to boost entrepreneurship and economic growth.
Additionally, ANSEC approved a N160 million investment for acquiring five mining assets to enhance the state’s participation in the solid minerals sector. The new acquisitions—Pharmaceutical Grade Kaolin, Gravel Pack, Glass Sand, Sand Quarry, and Ceramic Kaolin Assets—will complement earlier acquisitions by the Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company, expanding the state's revenue base and industrial potential.
This strategic move aligns with the state’s economic diversification agenda, positioning Anambra as a key player in Nigeria’s solid minerals industry.
