Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has laid his 24-year-old son, Abdulwahab Umar-Namadi, to rest following a tragic car accident that claimed his life on Thursday, December 26, 2024. The burial, conducted in accordance with Islamic traditions, took place in Kafin-Hausa town, the family’s hometown.

The heartbreaking incident occurred just a day after the governor’s mother, Maryam Namadi-Umar, passed away following a brief illness. She was buried on Christmas Day in Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area of the state.

Abdulwahab was traveling to Kafin-Hausa to pay a condolence visit over the death of his grandmother when his vehicle collided head-on with a Volkswagen Golf car along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa road. The accident claimed his life and that of another individual, plunging the governor’s family into further grief.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Hamisu Gumel, the family expressed their submission to the will of Allah. “With deep sorrow and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, His Excellency Mallam Umar Namadi announces the passing of his dear son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi. He passed away in a ghastly motor accident. To Allah belongs what He has taken, and to Him belongs what He has given, and everything has its appointed time,” the statement read.

Abdulwahab’s passing has left a void in the family, with the young man remembered as a promising and kind-hearted individual. He is survived by his grieving parents and siblings. The double loss has drawn condolences and prayers from leaders, dignitaries, and citizens across the country.
