This initiative is aligned with the government's efforts to promote agriculture as a key driver of economic growth and poverty reduction. By supporting rural farmers and providing them with the necessary infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for sustainable agricultural development in the region.
While speaking on the newsmen, Hon Adelosoye Maxwell Ademola said "It is based on the foreknowledge and the desire to complement existing efforts of both the Federal Government and the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Ayedatiwa that the Vice Chairman, Transition Committee Ondo South West LCDA, Adelosoye Maxwell Ademola (AMA) launched a rural agricultural initiative. Which in partnership with the Olumbe Akinkugbe Foundation is poised to successfully complete 35 agricultural market stalls in Bagbe in order to provide conducive market space for farmers to make available affordable food items and agricultural produce for their immediate community and neighbouring communities. With the First phase of the Market already commissioned and in use, Olumbe Akinkugbe Foundation is already committed to complete the Second phase of the Bagbe Market project.
Despite securing the first and second phases of the market project, we are seeking further collaborations with private and public entities for further developmental projects. These include the expansion of the market, construction of drainage systems, access roads, and the implementation of renewable energy solutions for rural electrification within the market area".
He stressed further that "To AMA, a well-developed agricultural market will contribute significantly to Ondo south west LCDA overall development, boost revenue and improve the livelihoods of its residents which invariably translate to an increase in the supply of food to nearby urban centers and overall curb rising food cost in the community."
Leaders, market women, farmers and the general public have commended Hon Maxwell Adelosoye and the Olumbe Akinkugbe Foundation for their dedication to improving food security in Ondo State. Together, we can create a more resilient and food-secure future for our communities.
