The program was a 2-in-1 event, aside from the sworn-in, notable personalities were also honoured with awards of excellence for their contributions in their various profession.
The events took place at Dejavu Hotels Conference Hall, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State.
According to the Newly sworn-in President of Ondo Chambers Of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ONDOCCIMA), Otunba Olugbenga Araoyinbo, he promised a better collaboration with the state government in formulating developmental policies that guarantee enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.
Araoyinbo, who is the 16th President of ONDOCCIMA, stated that the chambers must engage the state government and other stakeholders in formulating policies that will promote, maintain and sustain operations of the private sector.
He said: “ONDOCCIMA will continue to lobby and influence government policies that will translate into tangible benefits for businesses thus leading to our state domestic economic growth.
“Besides, ONDOCCIMA will work towards the sustenance of being a truly invaluable partner to Ondo State government and other stakeholders in the business environment.”
Araoyinbo also noted that “ONDOCCIMA membership base consists of all the leading lights of seasoned business personalities across various sectors of the economy and we have been providing our platform for the articulation of business ideas, the conceptualization of policies, training and implementation of plans in line with the international best practice.”
Earlier in her address, the immediate past president, who was the first female president of the chambers, Mrs Modupe Olakunle noted that even though the state government is no longer participating in the Trade Fair, “the chambers made sure our presence was felt in those fairs.”
She, therefore, appealed to the state government to improve its support for Small, Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs in the state to boost the state’s economy.
The National President of Nigeria Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Ice Udeagbala, who was represented by Barrister Dele Oye, First Deputy President, promised to work towards the betterment of the nation’s economy through proper coordination of the business sector in the country.
Among other members of the new executive of the ONDOCCIMA are Elder Fessy Olabode, first vice president(Admin), Pastor Henry Adesioye, deputy president (Finance), Dr Funmilola Williams-Daudu, vice president (Automatic) and State Coordinator, NAWORG, among others.
