ACCESS BANK WINS 16 EUROMONEY AWARDS, STRENGTHENS POSITION AS AFRICA'S LEADING BANKING BRAND

Access Bank Plc has recorded one of the biggest victories by an African financial institution at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, winning 16 awards that reinforce its growing reputation as one of the continent's leading banking brands.

The awards recognise the bank's achievements across customer experience, sustainable finance, SME banking, digital innovation, corporate responsibility and market leadership in several African countries.

The recognition comes as global financial institutions continue to compete for the prestigious Euromoney Awards, widely regarded as one of the banking industry's most respected benchmarks for excellence in leadership, innovation, governance, customer service and long-term value creation.

Among the honours received by Access Bank were awards for corporate responsibility in Angola, Botswana and Nigeria; digital banking leadership in Cameroon; customer experience excellence in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya through the National Bank of Kenya; SME banking leadership in Ghana, Nigeria and Zambia; sustainable finance and ESG leadership in Rwanda and Zambia; and Best Bank awards in The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Zambia.

The bank said the recognitions reflect the successful execution of its long-term strategy centred on innovation, customer-centricity, sustainability and responsible growth.

Over the years, Access Bank has invested significantly in digital banking, financial inclusion, SME development, sustainability and operational resilience while expanding its footprint across Africa and strengthening international banking corridors that facilitate trade and investment.

The awards also recognise the bank's governance standards, risk management framework and consistent performance across multiple markets.

Commenting on the achievement, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, Roosevelt Ogbonna, described the awards as a reflection of the confidence customers and stakeholders continue to place in the institution.

"These awards are a tribute to the trust our customers place in us, the dedication of our employees and the strength of the communities and markets we serve. More importantly, they affirm that our commitment to innovation, customer excellence, sustainability and responsible growth continues to deliver meaningful impact at scale.

"Across our network, we have remained focused on building solutions that help individuals, businesses and institutions thrive in an increasingly connected world. This recognition validates years of disciplined execution and reinforces our belief that African institutions can compete successfully at the highest global standards.

"We are deeply grateful to our customers, partners and employees whose confidence and commitment make achievements such as this possible. While we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on the future, committed to raising the bar for excellence, creating long-term value and supporting Africa's transformation through world-class financial services," Ogbonna said.

According to the bank, the awards demonstrate its commitment to connecting Africa to global markets by supporting businesses, expanding financial inclusion, empowering SMEs and women-led enterprises, promoting youth entrepreneurship and advancing sustainable finance initiatives.

Access Bank noted that the recognition also benefits customers through improved digital banking services, stronger security, enhanced international connectivity and greater confidence in its financial services, while reinforcing its credibility among investors, regulators, correspondent banks and development finance institutions.

Operating in 25 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe, Access Bank serves more than 60 million customers through over 700 branches and service outlets, making it one of Africa's largest retail banking institutions.
