... Set To Host Abuja Security Summit to Celebrate Women’s Contributions to National Development
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists has announced plans for the 2026 edition of the Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC), a major national gathering designed to spotlight the role of women in strengthening security, leadership, peacebuilding and national development in Nigeria.
According to the organisers, the summit, scheduled for June 30, 2026, at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, will bring together top government officials, security experts, media professionals, development partners, civil society organisations and prominent women leaders from across the country.
The event is being organised by NAWOJ in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Africa Independent Television and Crime Reporters Global Nigeria.
With the theme centred on celebrating the courage, passion, loyalty, sacrifice and commitment of women in securing the nation, organisers said the summit aims to deepen conversations around women’s participation in security architecture, governance and national stability.
The organisers noted that women continue to play critical but often under-recognised roles in conflict resolution, intelligence gathering, humanitarian interventions, journalism, advocacy and grassroots peacebuilding efforts across Nigeria.
“This summit is not just an award ceremony. It is a strategic platform to recognise women contributing immensely to national security while also creating conversations around inclusion, leadership and nation-building,” a statement from the project secretariat said.
As part of preparations for the event, the organisers also announced opportunities for corporate sponsorships, partnerships and advert placements in the official event brochure.
According to the breakdown released by the secretariat, the back cover page and centre spread advert categories are pegged at ₦1 million each, while inside cover pages cost ₦500,000. Full-page advert placements are fixed at ₦300,000, while half-page adverts and congratulatory messages attract ₦200,000 respectively.
The organisers called on corporate organisations, public institutions, development agencies and well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative.
They described WINSEC 2026 as a platform that aligns with ongoing national conversations around women inclusion, security reforms and sustainable development.
The event is expected to feature keynote sessions, panel discussions, recognition awards and strategic engagements involving stakeholders from security agencies, the media, public institutions and the private sector.
Organisers further assured that the summit would celebrate exceptional women making significant contributions in various sectors while encouraging stronger female participation in national development and security-related initiatives.
