EASTER FIESTA: OSAMAYE, O’DATIWA WOMEN CELEBRATE 500 VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN ONDO


Joy and excitement filled the atmosphere at the Ondo State Children’s Home and Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre as the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Seun Osamaye, led members of the O’datiwa Women group to celebrate over 500 vulnerable children during a special Easter fiesta.

The event, organised under the O’Datiwa Care Initiative of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, brought together government officials, dignitaries, and community leaders who shared moments of joy with the children through music, dancing, and festive meals.

Dr. Osamaye explained that the Easter fiesta was aimed at spreading love, hope, and happiness among vulnerable children, including those in government homes and on the streets.

She disclosed that about 500 children benefited from the outreach, which also involved the distribution of food and relief materials.

The Commissioner commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for prioritising the welfare of vulnerable groups, noting improvements such as facility renovations and borehole construction at the Juvenile Home.

Several dignitaries and stakeholders present at the event praised the initiative as a significant step toward inclusive governance.

Among them were former Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Sarah Esakomo; Ondo State Coordinator of the Nigeria for Women Programme (Scale-Up Project), Jumoke Bakare; and the wife of the ALGON Chairman, Mrs. Bose Fasuan.

Also in attendance were Mrs. Ajaka Adenike; Wife of the Commissioner for Health, Nurse Aarinola Adamolekun; Hon. Chief Mrs. Iyaloja Adu; Chief Mrs. Aisida Kemi; Chief Mrs. Eko Davies; Hon. Mrs. Mosun Odukale; Mrs. Afilaka Tayelolu; Mama Animola Grace; Chief Mrs. Adaramoye; Alhaja Idera Sikirat; Mrs. Oluwafemi; Mrs. Omoboni Oluwatoyin; and Alhaja Yusuf Mariam, among others.

Government officials present included Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Adebayo Oyegunwa; Director of Planning, Mr. Sola Oladeji; Deputy Director (Child), Mr. Adeusi Raymond; and other senior staff of the Ministry of Women Affairs and the correctional centres.

At the Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre, Mrs. Bose Fasuan encouraged the children to remain hopeful, disciplined, and focused on their future, describing them as ambassadors of Ondo State.

In his remarks, Mr. Adebayo Oyegunwa described the Easter fiesta as a historic and impactful initiative, bringing joy and renewed hope to less privileged children.

Other ministry officials also praised Dr. Osamaye’s leadership, noting that the programme reflects the administration’s commitment to social inclusion and human development.
