WoPU BACKS TINUBU, PLANS NATIONWIDE MOBILISATION AHEAD OF 2027 – COORDINATOR

The Working People United (WoPU) has declared strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the group is set to mobilise grassroots backing across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Coordinator General of WoPU, Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, made this known following a courtesy visit to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to Akporeha, the group has strong confidence in the current administration’s reform agenda, noting that Nigeria is already witnessing signs of economic recovery and structural progress.

He said the organisation is committed to supporting policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly those aimed at improving the welfare of workers and creating sustainable economic opportunities.

“We believe Nigeria is on the right path. The ongoing reforms across key sectors show a clear commitment to economic stability and long-term growth,” he said.

Akporeha added that WoPU would continue to amplify the voices of ordinary Nigerians while encouraging active civic participation and inclusive governance.

The WoPU coordinator disclosed that the group, which has structures across the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and all 774 local government areas, is strategically positioned to drive nationwide mobilisation.

He explained that the movement comprises workers across different sectors, including public and private employees, artisans, entrepreneurs, farmers, transporters, and youths.

According to him, the organisation will intensify efforts to connect government policies with grassroots communities and ensure broader participation in governance.

Speaking during the meeting, Gbajabiamila commended the group for adopting a collaborative approach rather than confrontational engagement often associated with similar organisations.

He noted that such constructive dialogue is critical to strengthening democracy and fostering trust between citizens and government institutions.

Akporeha stressed that WoPU would continue to advocate improved welfare for Nigerian workers and promote policies that enhance economic inclusion and productivity.

He added that inclusive governance remains key to national development, noting that “when the voices of everyday Nigerians are heard, the country moves forward faster.”

Looking ahead, the WoPU leader said the group is preparing to play an active role in mobilising support for the continuity of the administration’s policies.

He expressed confidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda would deliver lasting benefits, adding that sustained engagement at the grassroots level would be critical to achieving national unity and progress.
