IKEJA LG: AKOD’s FIRST 100 DAYS HIGHLIGHT YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION REFORM AND HEALTH SERVICES

The Ikeja Local Government has begun activities marking the first 100 working days of Executive Chairman, Hon. Seyi Adekunle Odeneye (AKOD), with initiatives focused on youth development, education reform and improved healthcare services.

Day One of the celebration featured the groundbreaking One-Day Chairman, One-Day Vice Chairman and One-Day Leader of the House programme—an initiative described as unprecedented in Nigeria’s local government system.
The One-Day Chairman, Miss Zainab Ismail, a pupil of St. Peter’s Primary School, Alausa and winner of the 2025 Ikeja Spelling Bee Competition, presided over official engagements throughout the day.

Carrying out her symbolic duties, she commissioned the rehabilitated Morenike Close, signaling ongoing infrastructure upgrades within the community. She also led the unveiling of 12 newly renovated blocks of classrooms, equipped with modern desks, chairs and improved learning resources to enhance the learning environment for Ikeja pupils.

The administration also hosted a Free Medical Outreach for 200 senior citizens, who received medical tests, essential drugs, health kits and cash support. Officials described the intervention as part of the council’s commitment to promoting the well-being and dignity of the elderly.

According to council authorities, the activities reflect the strategic focus of the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, the administration’s development blueprint, and demonstrate AKOD’s determination to deliver the “Better Days” promised during his campaign.

Dignitaries in attendance included Vice Chairman Hon. Abisola Omisore; Council Manager Mrs. Juliana Taiwo Odubeko; Leader of the House Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa (ORA); APC Ikeja LGA Chairman Alhaji Dally Adeokun; Engr. Kehinde Akinola; Chief Ologunde; Apostle Olowoporoku and several community stakeholders.

The celebration continues with more project commissioning and community-focused engagements across Ikeja.
