The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Friday featured on Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1FM, where he engaged residents on grassroots governance and outlined his administration’s achievements under the I.K.E.J.A. Agenda.
During the live interactive programme at 3:15pm, which allowed listeners to call in, the council boss highlighted progress in infrastructure, education, security, and youth empowerment.
According to him, three major roads have already been flagged off within the local government, while plans are underway to establish a Neighborhood Security Outfit before the end of the year, with monthly security meetings institutionalised to enhance safety.
He also disclosed that 30 new employees had been recruited to strengthen service delivery, adding that his administration was paying attention to both formal and informal education as well as youth empowerment initiatives.
On traffic management, AKOD said his office had held two strategic meetings with transport unions and the state traffic division to address congestion across the local government.
Listeners who phoned in commended the chairman’s proactive approach, with one caller drawing attention to drug abuse challenges in Ipodo and Sale Awori communities. In response, AKOD assured residents that decisive steps would be taken in partnership with relevant agencies to tackle the menace.
