In line with its commitment to staff development and workplace safety, the Lagos State Printing Corporation (LSPC), in collaboration with the Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI), has commenced a 2-Day Drivers Training Programme themed “Mandatory, Structural and Rehabilitation Training Programme.”
The training, which runs from Thursday, August 28 to Friday, August 29, 2025, at the LSPC Conference Room, is designed to retool, retrain, and reinforce best practices among drivers, equipping them with enhanced knowledge of road safety regulations, modern driving techniques, and responsible road-use culture.
Speaking at the opening of the programme, the General Manager of LSPC, Hon. Dr. Kolawole Peregrino, emphasized that the Corporation under his leadership has consistently prioritized human capacity development across all cadres of staff.
He noted that while previous sessions have focused on other categories of personnel within the Corporation, this programme specifically reflects management’s dedication to ensuring that the driver cadre is not left behind in the holistic training agenda.
The General Manager further stressed that the safety of staff, official vehicles, and the general public remains a top priority for the Corporation. Hence, the deliberate collaboration with LASDRI, the statutory body responsible for professional driver training in Lagos State.
The intensive training features comprehensive sessions on Lagos State traffic rules and regulations, including road signs and their meanings, vehicle signals, essential vehicle maintenance procedures, traffic laws, and penalties for non-compliance. The programme also includes eye examinations to assess drivers’ visual acuity, as well as practical sessions to ensure the road-worthiness of the Corporation’s vehicle fleet.
Participants are undergoing modules on safety consciousness, defensive driving, stress management, first aid response, and accident prevention, among other practical areas. Certificates will be issued to drivers who successfully complete the programme.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Opeyemi Adebuleyi, Senior Law Enforcement Officer at LASDRI, appreciated the General Manager and management staff of LSPC for organizing the training. He encouraged that the initiative be sustained and held at least twice yearly, while urging drivers to strictly adhere to all they have been taught.
The Corporation Secretary, Ms. Anike Fashola, also commended the LASDRI team, expressing optimism that the training would strengthen the drivers’ sense of responsibility and professionalism.
Similarly, the Head Driver of LSPC, Mr. Adeoye, expressed gratitude to the General Manager and management team for giving the drivers the opportunity to benefit from the exercise.
This initiative once again underscores the visionary leadership of the General Manager, whose proactive approach continues to ensure that LSPC staff across all levels are equipped with the requisite skills to deliver optimally in their duties.
