…New Era to Focus on Capacity Building and Professional Excellence
Mr. Onuoha, who serves as Group Head, Compliance Risk Management at Fidelity Bank Plc, succeeds Mr. Victor Abejegah, the Bank’s Chief Financial Officer.
In his acceptance speech, Onuoha affirmed his commitment to strengthening technical capacity and promoting professional excellence within the Fidelity Bank workforce.
“Our administration will focus on continuous learning and skills development to equip members with cutting-edge knowledge required to thrive in today’s fast-evolving financial services landscape,” Onuoha stated.
A Chartered Accountant, data science expert, and anti-money laundering specialist, Onuoha pledged to build on the achievements of past leadership while reinforcing strategic collaboration between ICAN and Fidelity Bank. “We aim to deepen the synergy between Fidelity Bank and ICAN as a foundation for a resilient financial ecosystem. Additionally, we will drive membership growth by attracting more Chartered Accountants into the fold—enriching the bank’s intellectual capital,” he added.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Occasion, Mr. Jude Monye, Regional Bank Head–Ikeja, Fidelity Bank Plc, encouraged the new leadership to prioritize continuous professional development.
“Capacity building is no longer optional—it is imperative. Let your tenure be marked by impactful programs that empower members to lead with insight, resilience, and relevance,” Monye advised.
He lauded the Chapter’s evolution and the unwavering support of the Bank’s executive management, especially that of Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Managing Director/CEO, Fidelity Bank Plc.
“The Chapter has become a vibrant hub of professional development, a testament to the bank’s recognition of the value of competence and continuous growth,” he remarked.
In his remarks, Mr. Victor Abejegah, Immediate Past Chairman, highlighted key achievements during his tenure, including training in fish farming, poultry, snail farming, and export processing; as well as initiatives on member welfare and support for bereaved families.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the Chapter’s Patron Award on Mr. Stanley Amuchie, Executive Director/Chief Operations and Information Officer, Fidelity Bank Plc, in recognition of over 25 years of exemplary service in banking and financial services.
“This is more than an award—it’s a call to serve,” Amuchie stated. “As Patron, I will serve as a mentor, advocate, and bridge-builder within both the ICAN community and the Fidelity family.”
The event concluded with the swearing-in of the new Executive Committee by 61st ICAN President, Mallam Haruna Yahaya, MNI, PhD, FCA, signaling a fresh era of visionary leadership and renewed commitment to professional development within the Chapter.
