GLOBACOM LAUNCHES GLOSHARE AND MOBILE COMMUNITY PLAN FOR KWARA STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

In a bid to revolutionize how students connect, share, and collaborate both academically and socially, telecommunications giant, Globacom, through its Enterprise Unit, has launched Gloshare and a Mobile Community Plan for students of Kwara State University (KWASU). This marks the first deployment of such a service in any tertiary institution in Nigeria.

The launch, which took place recently on the KWASU campus in Malete, Ilorin, introduced a blended learning system designed to enhance digital access and community interaction within the university environment.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Adewale Adiatu, Enterprise Southwest Regional Head at Globacom, explained that Gloshare enables students to access the school portal and download educational materials free of charge, without consuming their personal data. He added that the Mobile Community Plan allows everyone within the KWASU ecosystem—students and staff alike—to be on the same platform, fostering seamless interaction and collaboration.

Also addressing attendees, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, Enterprise National Vertical Head at Glo Enterprise Sales, revealed that multiple telecom sites had already been installed on campus, with more under development, to ensure the smooth operation of Gloshare and the Closed User Group (CUG) mobile community lines.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, who formally unveiled the products, described the event as both historic and forward-looking. He praised the initiative, particularly in light of the event's theme, “Redefining Leadership in the Age of AI: Students as Innovators, Volunteers, and Changemakers.”

“These initiatives are not only homegrown and tailored to our needs but also emblematic of the innovative spirit that thrives within our student community,” the Vice Chancellor noted. “They will strengthen communication, connectivity, and collaboration across the university.”

In his remarks, the President of the Student Union Government, Mallam Abdulafeez Babatunde Kewulere, expressed appreciation to Globacom for choosing KWASU as the launchpad for Gloshare.

“This initiative underscores Globacom’s commitment to empowering students with cutting-edge digital solutions,” he said, encouraging students to make the most of the new offerings.

“By leveraging these tools, you won’t just enrich your academic journey—you will also gain an edge in today’s rapidly evolving digital world,” he added.
