NIGERIA-BRAZIL TIES STRENGTHEN AS OGUN STATE WELCOMES STRATEGIC INVESTMENT DISCUSSIONS

The bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Brazil took a significant step forward today as Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, met with the Vice President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, H.E. Geraldo Alckmin, and his wife, Maria Lúcia Alckmin, during the Second Session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM) in Abuja.

The high-level engagement, held at the Brazilian Ambassador’s residence, focused on deepening trade, industrial development, and technological partnerships between the two countries. The session marked a renewed effort by both nations to leverage strategic dialogue for mutual economic benefits.

In his remarks, Governor Abiodun highlighted Ogun State’s readiness to host international investments and affirmed the state’s commitment to building a global industrial hub.

“This meeting offered an excellent platform to promote Ogun State’s economic potential to our Brazilian counterparts. We discussed JB’s forthcoming investment in Ogun, a development that will bring cutting-edge technology and job creation to our people,” the governor said.

The governor emphasized that the Brazilian partnership aligns with his administration’s I.S.E.Y.A. economic blueprint—an agenda focused on Infrastructure, Social Welfare, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Agriculture. He reaffirmed the state’s openness to foreign direct investment and strategic collaborations that would bolster economic transformation.

Governor Abiodun also praised the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, describing it as a vital tool in fostering sustainable development, especially in the areas of agribusiness, manufacturing, and education exchange.

“Ogun State remains open for business, and we are deliberate about pursuing meaningful global alliances. The future is promising, and this collaboration with Brazil is a major step in our journey to industrial greatness,” he added.

The Brazil-Nigeria Strategic Dialogue Mechanism continues to serve as a high-level framework for discussing key policy areas, promoting cultural exchange, and unlocking new investment frontiers between Africa’s largest economy and South America’s largest country.
