The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has officially named the newly built Government House Mini City “Light House Awka,” aligning with the state’s renowned slogan, “Light of the Nation.”
The decision was reached during the 10th ANSEC meeting—the third to be held at the new Government House—on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Announcing the development, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, revealed that Light House Awka encompasses an impressive range of state-of-the-art facilities. These include: The Governor’s Office, The Governor’s Lodge, The Deputy Governor’s Residence, 24 additional government structures, A world-class amphitheatre and auditorium and a signature eight-lane dualised road, named Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard, which serves as the gateway to the mini-city.
Dr. Mefor described the naming as symbolic and reflective of Anambra’s ambition to remain a beacon of progress and excellence in Nigeria.
The landmark project has received high praise from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who recently commended Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his “impeccable and incredible leadership,” especially in transforming Anambra’s infrastructural landscape.
The President, visibly impressed during his visit to the mini-city, described the feat as a historic achievement, breaking a 34-year jinx that had seen successive administrations operate without a befitting Government House.
“Anambra is rising, and we are ready to work with you,” President Tinubu declared, adding that Governor Soludo possesses an innate ability to deliver transformative governance—a quality that earns him admiration across political divides.
He fondly referred to the Governor as “Mr. Solution”, affirming that political differences are secondary when it comes to recognizing true performance and leadership.
“Soludo’s governance style shows he is a progressive. I like achievers, and you are one of them,” the President added.
The Light House Awka is poised to become a hub of governance, culture, and civic pride, reinforcing Anambra’s identity as the Light of the Nation, and a symbol of forward-thinking leadership in Nigeria.
