In a heartwarming display of unity and deep-rooted camaraderie, the 1988/1993 Class Set of the Remo Secondary School Old Students Association (RSSOSA) staged a grand surprise birthday celebration in honour of their National President, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking.
Held at the prestigious Marriott Hotel, Lagos, the event was both emotional and spectacular, leaving the celebrant visibly moved and overwhelmed with gratitude. The meticulously planned surprise had been in the works since January, coordinated discreetly with the support of Aare Adetola’s wife, who kept the arrangements confidential until the big day.
The celebration was filled with heartfelt moments, laughter, and joyous reunions, as former classmates came together to celebrate one of their own in grand style. In a remarkable gesture of appreciation, the 88/93 Set presented Aare Adetola with gifts worth several million naira.
Highlighting the strength of global connections, members of the 88/93 Set residing in the diaspora joined virtually from the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. Notable among them were Segun Osho, Rev. Fr. Oshitimehin, Sade Odesanya, Akeem Elegbeji, Gboyega Solarin, Johnson Olumuyiwa Sanya, Tope Otunba, Semeton Amosu, Yemisi Olowu, Bukky Alli, Bunmi Ojutialayo, Bolaji Desalu, Wasiu Talabi, Azeez Awolaja, Jimmy Adetayo, and Bisoye Sholuade, whose heartfelt messages and virtual presence added to the emotional weight of the occasion.
The remarkable success of the event was attributed to the visionary leadership of the Class Set Governor, Engr. Bola Owolabi Oladeinde, whose commitment, planning, and meticulous coordination ensured a flawless and memorable experience for all.
In his appreciation speech, a visibly emotional Aare Adetola Emmanuelking said: “Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that such an elaborate and deeply moving celebration awaited me. You have honoured me beyond words, and I am eternally grateful. May God bless and replenish each of you for your sacrifices, generosity, and steadfast love.”
He also thanked his wife for her unwavering support and her incredible role in keeping the surprise a secret.
The celebration was more than just a birthday—it was a resounding testament to the values of loyalty, unity, and enduring friendship. The 88/93 Set of RSSOSA once again demonstrated that the bonds formed in youth can grow stronger with time, setting a shining example for alumni groups across the nation.
