Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to governance and infrastructural development, receiving the Leadership Excellence Award from the Catholic Laity Council of Awka Diocese.
The prestigious award was conferred at a ceremony held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Agulu, during the flag-off of the Catholic Laity Council Week. The event was marked by a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese.
In his remarks, Hon. Sir Joseph Igwebuike, President of the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Awka Diocese, lauded Governor Soludo’s efforts in transforming Anambra State. “You have no rival. We love the good works you are doing and will support you to continue,” Igwebuike affirmed, urging the governor to sustain his developmental strides.
The endorsement by the Catholic Laity Council is seen as a strong show of confidence in Governor Soludo’s administration. According to a report by Ozo Adichie Izuchukwu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, this recognition serves as a morale booster for his government’s transformational agenda.
The ceremony was attended by notable personalities, including Chief Sly Ezeokenwa, National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), alongside other key stakeholders in the state.
Governor Soludo’s leadership continues to attract commendations beyond religious circles. Recently, he was named Governor of the Year 2024 by The Sun Newspaper and Independent Newspaper, in recognition of his infrastructural reforms and urban renewal initiatives.
With this latest honour, Soludo’s administration appears to have gained further momentum in its vision of making Anambra a model state in Nigeria.
